The Margon Arena is a multifunctional arena and, after the EnergieVerbund Arena, the second largest multi-purpose hall in the Saxon capital of Dresden . The main users are currently the volleyball team of the Dresdner SC and the basketball team of the Dresden Titans .

history

The building, which was inaugurated in 1998 as the multi-purpose hall at Bodenbacher Strasse , offers space for 3,000 visitors at sporting events, all of which are seated. At concerts, the number of seats can be increased to 4,500. In addition to up to 16 cloakrooms and changing rooms with showers and toilets, there is a room for press and TV workstations, sanitary facilities, kiosks and a VIP area in the building complex. The parking spaces in the vicinity offer space for 300 vehicles.

On November 16, 2017, the city's sports committee decided almost unanimously that the roughly twenty-year-old hall should get a new roof. A simpler version of the roof is installed. The roof will lose its glazing and skylights . The costs should amount to around 1.9 million euros. Work is scheduled to begin in mid-2018. If there is still money left after the roof renovation, further measures such as expanding the hall can be carried out.
