Sophie Schellenberger (born March 5, 1987 in Dippoldiswalde ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

Sophie Schellenberger started playing volleyball in her place of birth at TuS Dippoldiswalde. She then moved to Dresdner SC and won the German A-Youth Championship there with her team in 2004 and 2005. The club had not won two German championship titles in consecutive years with any youth team. The native Saxon then moved to Bavaria for study reasons and joined SV Lohhof . With the second division team of SVL she won the championship title in the following season. However, the Unterschleißheimer renounced the promotion for financial reasons. Sophie Schellenberger stayed two more seasons in Upper Bavaria, and in 2007 she finished second with the team in the second Bundesliga South. After finishing fourth in 2008, the universal player decided to study abroad in the United States. In North Carolina, she played for the Wingate University volleyball team. After her semester abroad, the communication sciences student returned to her home country in Saxony and joined VV Grimma . Schellenberger has already proven her versatility in various positions. So she was used as a middle blocker, diagonal player, outside attacker and as a Libera. Schellenberger has been playing for league competitor VC Offenburg since 2012 , where she was active in the mixed area from 2013 to 2015.
