Bibiana Candelas Ramírez (born December 2, 1983 in Torreón ) is a Mexican beach volleyball player . Before that, she was also active in volleyball and took part in two world championships.

Career

Candelas began her career as a student at the Colegio Ponceño in Ponce (Puerto Rico) . She was appointed to the senior national team for the first time at the age of 14 . In 2002, the middle blocker took part with the team at the World Cup in Germany , where Mexico was eliminated as bottom group after the first round. In the same year Candelas moved to the University of Southern California . In 2003 she won the NCAA championship with the USC Trojans . In 2005 she finished her training. A year later she played with the national team at the World Cup in Japan , which ended without winning a set for the underdog.

In 2007, Candelas formed a beach volleyball duo with Mayra García and completed her first FIVB World Tour tournament at the Shanghai Open . The two Mexicans won the bronze medal at the Pan American Games . In 2008 Candelas / García made it into the top ten at two open tournaments as well as at the Grand Slams in Berlin and Stavanger . They also won the NORCECA tournament in Guatemala City . In Beijing they took part in the Olympic Games . They reached the lucky loser round as third in the group, in which they lost to the Norwegian duo Håkedal / Tørlen in the tiebreaker .

In 2009 Candelas / García qualified for the World Championships in Stavanger . As group third they came into the first main round, in which they had to admit defeat to the later finalists Larissa / Juliana from Brazil. In the same year they won the tournaments of the NORCECA tour in Tijuana and Puerto Vallarta . In 2010 they achieved the best result so far on the World Tour as fifth in the Grand Slam in Gstaad . At the 2011 World Cup in Rome, however, the Mexicans were eliminated as the bottom of the group in the preliminary round, having only won two sets in three games. They were more successful at home; they won three tournaments of the NORCECA series and the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara . The best result of the World Tour 2012 was achieved by Candelas / García with 13th place at the Brasília Open. The Grand Slam in Beijing was the duo's last tournament together.

In 2013, Candelas met Martha Revuelta . The new duo finished fourth and third in the first tournaments of the Continental Tour.
