Lauren Marie Fendrick (born March 20, 1982 in Carlsbad ) is an American volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Fendrick began volleyball in 1997 while she was at Carlsbad High School. A year later, she was appointed to the US youth team. In 1999 the external attacker began her studies at the University of California, Los Angeles . There she played in the university team. After graduating, she was still active in clubs in Puerto Rico and Turkey .

In 2003 Fendrick began her career as a beach volleyball player. In the following years she took part in the AVP tour with changing partners , including her current teammate Brittany Hochevar . In 2008 she formed a duo with Ashley Ivy . After two tournament wins in Vaduz (Satellite) and Egypt (Challenger), Fendrick / Ivy finished seventh and fifth in their first three open tournaments on the FIVB World Tour . At the 2009 World Cup they managed to win against the Norwegians Aas / Bjørkesett in the preliminary round , but they were eliminated as third in the group. Then they played their first Grand Slams and came ninth in the top ten in Klagenfurt . At the end of the season, she finished fourth in Phuket . In 2010 they achieved the best result in 13th place at the Seoul Open.

In Stare Jabłonki , Fendrick competed with her new partner Brooke Hanson for the first time . Fendrick / Hansen finished ninth in Sanya . They started 2011 with two fourth places in Brasília and Shanghai . At the World Cup in Rome , they made it into the knockout round as second in the group and made it to the quarter-finals with two more victories. There they had to admit defeat to the future world champions Larissa / Juliana from Brazil in three sets, so that they finished the tournament in fifth place. Later in the year they finished ninth in Stavanger and Moscow and fifth in Klagenfurt and Phuket. In 2012 they only made it into the top ten at the Berlin Grand Slam (ninth).

At the last tournament in 2012, Fendrick reached fourth place with Nicole Branagh in Bang Saen . The duo also played the first two tournaments of the 2013 World Tour together. In Corrientes , Fendrick was on the pitch for the first time with Hochevar. Fendrick / Hochevar finished ninth in the Grand Slam in Rome . At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki , Fendrick / Hochevar ended up in fifth place after a quarter-final defeat against the German Borger / Büthe . From 2014 to 2016, Fendrick played with Brooke Sweat . Fendrick / Sweat took numerous top ten placements on the World Tour, but never made it to the semi-finals. They also finished fifth at the 2015 World Cup in the Netherlands . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Americans were eliminated without a win after the preliminary round.

In 2017, April was Ross Fendrick's partner. At the World Cup in Vienna , Fendrick / Ross reached the final, which they lost to the German Olympic champions Ludwig / Walkenhorst .
