Kim Behrens (born September 22, 1992 in Bremen ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career indoor volleyball

Kim Behrens started playing indoor volleyball at the age of nine in her hometown at TS Neustadt in Bremen . Later she played here in the regional league team, in the Bremen state selection and in the youth national team. In 2007, the outside attacker switched to the volleyball boarding school at USC Münster , where she played in the second division team until 2016 . In the 2009/10 season, she also had several appearances in the first division team of the USC. In 2011, Behrens was German U20 runner-up with USC Münster.

Career beach volleyball

At the Smart Beach Tour 2017 in Nuremberg

Kim Behrens has also been active in beach volleyball since 2010. At first she played with various partners on the Smart Beach Tour and other national tournaments. In 2011 she finished fourth at the U20 European Championship in Tel Aviv alongside Sandra Seyfferth . In 2012 she formed a duo with Stefanie Hüttermann and was on the FIVB World Tour for the first time . At the German championships in Timmendorfer Strand , Behrens / Hüttermann took 13th place. Subsequently, Behrens and Christine Aulenbrock landed in fifth place at the U21 World Cup in Halifax, Canada . In 2013 and 2014 Kim Behrens played again with Sandra Seyfferth. The two defense specialists reached fifth place at the U22 European Championship in Varna and ninth place at the German championships . In 2014, Behrens / Seyffert became student vice world champions in Porto and again finished ninth at the German championships . In 2015, Behrens had various partners, including Jenny Heinemann , with whom she again finished ninth at the German championships . At the Antalya Open , Behrens finished fifth with Anni Schumacher . In 2016 Nadja Glenzke was her partner. Behrens / Glenzke won the CEV satellite tournaments in Timișoara, Romania, and Skopje, Macedonia . Behrens also finished ninth at the 2016 German championships with Glenzke .

In 2017, Behrens made it onto the podium at the FIVB World Tour for the first time in the Australian Shepparton (1 star tournament) alongside Anni Schumacher . Further successes of Behrens / Schumacher were fourth place in Sydney (2 stars) and second place in Monaco (1 star) on the World Tour . There was also a second place on the European CEV Tour at the Masters in Ankara and the victory at the Satellite in Ljubljana as well as the victories at the Smart Beach Cup in Nuremberg and the Smart Super Cup in Kühlungsborn . At the German championship , Behrens / Schumacher finished seventh, it was the last joint tournament because Anni Schumacher ended her active beach career afterwards. From October 2017 to the end of 2018, Behrens formed a team with Sandra Ittlinger that was trained by Kay Matysik . On the FIVB World Tour 2017/18 the two had numerous top ten placements. At the European Championship in the Netherlands , Behrens / Ittlinger finished ninth. In Timmendorfer Strand they became German runners- up after a final defeat against Bieneck / Schneider .

Behrens has been playing alongside Cinja Tillmann since 2019 . In their first season together, they won two tournaments on the National Techniker Beach Tour . Internationally they achieved three 17th places at the 4 star tournaments of the FIVB World Tour in Xiamen , Jinjiang and Espinho , although they were not registered by the German Volleyball Association for six other tournaments in which they would have been eligible to play. In its decision, the association referred to the need to give the national teams preferential international match practice in view of the 2020 Summer Olympics and to have therefore decided against Behrens / Tillmann, against which the team defended itself legally. After a 17th place at the World Championships in Hamburg and a 9th place at the European Championships in Moscow, the duo ended the season with a 3rd place at the German Championships , with Kim Behrens winning the small final against her former partner Sandra Ittlinger.
