Ana María Gallay (born January 16, 1986 in Nogoyá ) is an Argentine beach volleyball player .
Career
Gallay took part in her first FIVB tournament in Fortaleza in 2007 with Mariela Celestina Duce and reached place 41. From 2010 to 2013 she formed a duo with María Virginia Zonta . The two Argentinians developed into the most successful team in their country in the following years and also achieved some top placings in South American tournaments. They took part in the Brasília Open in 2011 and 2012 and in the tournament in Sanya in 2012 , but did not get beyond the 41st place. Gallay / Zonta qualified for the Olympic Games in London via the Continental Cup . There they competed as the only female duo in their country in the preliminary round against the later silver medalists Kessy / Ross from the USA. However, they could not win a set in their three group games and had to say goodbye after the preliminary round. In 2013 Gallay / Zonta won the first tournament on the Continental Tour in Chile . In the following tournaments on the tour, they finished two to four. They also came 17th in the Grand Slam in Corrientes . After a fifth place in the Continental Cup, the two separated.
From June 2013 to 2017 Gallay formed a new team with the former indoor national player Georgina Klug . On the continental tour they almost always reached the finals in 2013 and 2014 and they also had some top ten placements on the FIVB World Tour . They won the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto . Gallay / Klug were able to qualify for both the 2015 World Cup in the Netherlands and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but were eliminated after the preliminary round. After Georgina Klug's career ended, Gallay played again at the end of 2017 at the side of María Virginia Zonta , with whom she reached the main round at the World Cup in Vienna and was eliminated here against the Brazilians Larissa / Talita .
Fernanda Pereyra has been her new partner since 2018 . On the continental tour, the two Argentinians achieved top ten results without exception in 2018 and ended up being South American runners- up in Lima . On the FIVB World Tour 2018 , a 17th place in Espinho (four stars) was her best result. During a guest appearance on the German Techniker Beach Tour 2018 , they won the tournament in Sankt Peter-Ording and finished fifth in Leipzig . At the beginning of 2019 they were at least third in each of the South American tournaments. At the FIVB World Tour 2018/19 a 17th place in Itapema is her best result so far. Gallay / Pereyra qualified for the 2019 World Cup in Hamburg , where they failed in the first knockout round.
