Alain Gandy (writer)

Alain Gandy (born September 29, 1924 in Paris as André Gandelin, † December 22, 2015 in Aix-en-Provence ) was a French officer and writer .

Live and act

Gandy fought as a member of the Légion étrangère in World War II and was then also actively involved in the French colonial wars as such for a few years.

After his service, he began to continue writing, encouraged by his previous literary attempts. Over the years a small oeuvre of non-fiction books was created, in which he mainly dealt with the Foreign Legion. There were also some novels that were praised by the public as well as by official critics.
