Laura Giombini (born January 4, 1989 in Perugia ) is an Italian beach volleyball player .

Career

Giombini made her first international appearance at the 2006 World Youth Championship when she finished ninth with Debora Pini in Bermuda . A year later she entered the same competition in Mysłowice with her new partner Chiara Ferretti . Giombini / Ferretti finished ninth at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Modena . In 2009 they took part in the Junior World Championships again in Blackpool . They also completed their first open tournament in Barcelona . At the U23 European Championships in 2009 in Jantarny and 2010 in Kos , however, Giombini played with Menegatti and reached the final the second time. The Grand Slam in Rome was the last joint appearance with Ferretti in 2010. Giombini then formed a new duo with Valeria Rosso, who competed in front of a home crowd at the 2011 World Cup in Rome . However, the two Italians were eliminated after the preliminary round with only one set. Giombini met Viktoria Orsi Toth at the U23 European Championships in Porto and came in ninth. The new team then took part in various open tournaments and Grand Slams without booking any leading positions. For the European Championship 2012 Giombini was allowed to compete with the defending champion Greta Cicolari , because her regular partner Menegatti was injured. Giombini / Cicolari came second in the group in the first main round, in which they were defeated by the Swiss Forrer / Vergé-Dépré after three sets. Giombini played alongside Daniela Gioria from late 2012 to May 2014 . At the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki Gioria / Giombini reached the main round, where they were eliminated against the German Borger / Büthe . Then Giulia Momoli and Giulia Toti were her partners. In 2016 Giombini will play alongside former US indoor national player Rebecca Perry . For the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro she was nominated as partner of Marta Menegatti after her actual teammate Viktoria Orsi Toth had been excluded because of a positive test.
