Mônica Rodrigues (born September 20, 1967 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian beach volleyball player .

Career

Rodrigues played her first international tournaments with Adriana Samuel Ramos in 1993 . At the Open tournament in Rio de Janeiro , the duo reached the final as well as at the 1994 Goodwill Games in Saint Petersburg . After numerous other top ten placements, the Brazilians took part in the first Olympic tournament in Atlanta in 1996 and only lost to their compatriots Sandra Pires and Jackie Silva in the final . A year later they lost the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Los Angeles against the Americans Kirby / Reno .

Rodrigues then played four tournaments with Jackie Silva and in other tournaments with various other partners before she formed a new duo with Ana Paula Connelly in 2000 , which won the Open tournament in Cagliari , among other things . In 2002 and 2003 she was active with Alexandra and Leila Barros . At the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro , however, she competed in front of her own audience with Ângela Lavalle . The duo dropped out after the preliminary round and finished 33rd. The following year Rodrigues played again with Alexandra.
