Jacqueline Louise Cruz Silva (born February 13, 1962 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian beach volleyball player , world champion and Olympic champion.

Career

With the Brazilian team Jackie Silva took part as an indoor volleyball player at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and in Los Angeles in 1984 , reaching seventh place each time. From 1986 she concentrated on beach volleyball and won an unofficial world championship with Rita Crockett . In the following years Jackie Silva won 41 WPVA and five AVP victories with various partners . In 1992 she was voted best setter by the WPVA and in 1994 she was the MVP of the Association of Volleyball Professionals.

In 1994 Jackie Silva and her new partner Sandra Pires won three AVP tournaments. From 1995 to 1997 the two Brazilians won twelve of 29 FIVB tournaments, came second six times, took third place in ten events and did not receive a medal only once, but at least reached the semi-finals. In 1995 and 1996 the two South American women also became FIVB Tour Champion. The highlights of their joint careers were the 1996 Olympic gold medal in Atlanta and the world championship title in Los Angeles a year later .

In 2006 Jackie Silva was inducted into the "Volleyball Hall of Fame".
