Max Betzien (born March 2, 1994 in Leipzig ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career hall
As a teenager, Betzien played indoor volleyball at VC Markranstädt , VC Leipzig and the LE Volleys in his home country . In 2008 he became German U15 champion. In 2011/12, the outside attacker played in the junior team of VC Olympia Berlin in the second Bundesliga . He then moved to third division club SV Lindow-Gransee , with whom he was promoted to the second division in 2013.
Career Beach
In 2009 Betzien started playing beach volleyball. With Max-Jonas Karpa he finished fourth at the U18 European Championship in Vilnius in 2011 . The following year he won bronze with Jenne Hinrichsen at the German U20 championship. Then Betzien / Karpa took fifth place at the U19 World Cup in Larnaka , were German U19 runner-up in Kiel and also came fifth at the U20 European Championship in Hartberg . A year later Betzien / Karpa finished fifth again at the U21 World Cup in Umag . Betzien's standard partner in 2013 was Thomas Kaczmarek , with whom he finished ninth in the German championship . In 2014, Betzien first played with Niklas Rudolf and later with Toni Hellmuth , with whom he again finished ninth in the German championship . At the U22 European Championship in Antalya he was fourth with Mirko Schneider . In 2015 Betzien played nationally and internationally, first with Niklas Rudolf and later again with Mirko Schneider, with whom he took 13th place in the German championship .
As of 2016, Nils Ehlers from Berlin was his standard partner, with whom he won the Smart Super Cup in Kühlungsborn and finished fifth in the German championship . After finishing ninth at the 2017 German Championship , the two parted ways. Betzien has been playing with Jonathan Erdmann since 2018 . They finished fifth at the 3-star World Tour tournament in Tokyo and at the German championship . In June 2019 they won the tournament in Nuremberg on the Techniker Beach Tour . In June / July 2020 he took part in the Beach League with Dirk Westphal and won the competition in the final against Alexander Walkenhorst and Sven Winter .
