Toni Hellmuth (born May 21, 1990 in Berlin ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career hall

Hellmuth started playing indoor volleyball in 1999 in the talent factory of SCC Berlin . There he won two gold medals at the German Youth Championships alongside Denis Kaliberda . Since 2009 he played as a middle blocker at SV Lindow / Gransee in the 2nd Bundesliga North . After relegation in 2012, Hellmuth managed to get back up immediately with the club and in 2015 the championship of the 2nd Bundesliga North. In 2018 he ended his volleyball career.

Career Beach

In 2005 Hellmuth started playing beach volleyball. With his long-term partner Lars Flüggen , he was able to achieve many podium finishes at the German Youth Championships as well as some successes on the Smart Beach Tour . In 2010, when she was 20 at the time, she came 13th at the German Championships on Timmendorfer Strand. In the same year they reached the second round of the knockout round at the U21 World Cup in Alanya / Turkey after a sovereign group victory with three wins in three games. After a 1: 2 defeat against the Costa Ricans Julio Alvarez / Luis Raul Sandoval, they finished ninth.

In 2011 Hellmuth formed a new duo with Jannis Ulke. Due to a long-term injury to Ulkes, Hellmuth moved in the middle of the 2012 season and has since played with the U19 world champion from 2006, Marvin Klass , with whom he was unable to reach the German championships in 2012.

The 2013 season was the most successful for Hellmuth to date. Together with Klass he was able to achieve some important successes on the way to the German championships, such as: B. the fifth place at the Supercup in Hamburg, where u. a. the former German runner-up Andrae / Popp and the former Brazilian runner-up Harley Marques . At his second German championships , Hellmuth again reached 13th place.

In 2014, Hellmuth celebrated his greatest successes to date in a season marked by partner changes. First he found a new partner in Clemens Wickler , who however, after the injury-related career end of Olympic champion Julius Brink, formed a new perspective duo for the 2016 Olympics as Brink's replacement at Armin Dollinger's side . With Wito Krüger, who trained in the same training group at the federal beach volleyball base in Berlin, he landed a first surprise success as a qualifier with fifth place at the smart beach Cup in Cologne. Together with Max Betzien he reached the Supercup in Kühlungsborn, where u. a. won against the second placed national team Walkenhorst / Windscheif , took third place and qualified for the German championships. At his third German championships , Hellmuth achieved his first victory and thus achieved ninth place.

In 2015 and 2016 Hellmuth played alongside Eric Stadie . At the German championships they finished ninth. In his last active season, Lucas Mäurer was Hellmuth's partner at national tournaments in 2017.

Hellmuth has been a beach trainer at the Berlin Volleyball Association since October 2018.
