Sergei Sergejewitsch Prokopjew ( Russian Сергей Сергеевич Прокопьев , English transcription Sergey Prokopyev , born August 21, 1986 in Moscow ) is a Russian beach volleyball player .
Career
Prokopjew reached the youth world championship 2003 in Pattaya with Andrei Beresin the ninth place. A year later he played with Jegor Moliboga at the Junior World Championships in Porto Santo . In 2005 he formed a duo with Yaroslav Koschkarev and took part in his first open tournament in Saint Petersburg . In 2006, the duo made it into the top ten for the first time in ninth place. At the Junior World Championships Prokopjew achieved the same result with Yuri Bogatow . In 2007 Prokopjew / Koschkarev played three Grand Slams in addition to the Open series. In 2009 Prokopyev formed a new permanent duo with Bogatow and immediately reached ninth place at the Grand Slam in Moscow. At the European Championships in Sochi in 2009 , the duo also competed with home advantage, but lost all three preliminary round matches and finished the tournament in 13th place. Then Prokopjew / Bogatow were fourth in the Sanya Open. In 2010 they came in fifth and ninth at the Grand Slams in Moscow and Gstaad . In Berlin they reached the quarter-finals of the EM 2010 , which they lost in three sets against Kolodinski and Prokopjew's former partner Koschkarev. At the beginning of the year Prokopjew completed two open tournaments with Konstantin Semjonow , each of which ended in ninth place.
At the World Championships in Rome Prokopjew / Bogatow competed together again. In their preliminary group, however, they did not win a set. In 2012 they finished ninth in Moscow and fifth at the CEV Continental Cup in Alanya . For the Grand Slam in Berlin Prokopjew formed a duo with Semjonow again. The two Russians qualified for the Olympic Games in London . There they lost their first two games against the later Olympic champions Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann as well as the Swiss duo Heyer / Chevallier , but with a victory against the Chinese Xu / Wu reached the second round in third place, in which they beat the US-Americans Gibb / Rosenthal had to give up. They then reached ninth place in the Grand Slam in Stare Jabłonki .
2013 Prokopyev played again with Bogatov. The reunited duo finished ninth in the Fuzhou Open. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Prokopjew / Bogatow were eliminated without a win after the preliminary round.

Prokopjew is married to Marija Andrejewna Prokopjewa , née Bratkowa, who also plays beach volleyball professionally.
