Jacob "Jake" Gibb (born February 6, 1976 in Bountiful (Utah) , USA ) is an American beach volleyball player .

Career

Jake Gibb played on the US-American AVP Tour from 2000 to 2009 and since 2005 also internationally on the FIVB World Tour . With Adam Jewell he won his first AVP tournament in 2004. With Stein Metzger he was thirteenth at the Beach Volleyball World Championship in Berlin in 2005 . From 2006 to 2012 Gibb played with Sean Rosenthal , with whom he won the FIVB Open tournaments in Acapulco in 2006 and in Prague in 2008. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , Gibb / Rosenthal landed in fifth place after failing in the quarter-finals against the later bronze medalists Ricardo / Emanuel . At the 2007 World Championships in Gstaad , they achieved fifth place, 2009 in Stavanger a ninth place and 2011 in Rome a 17th place. The last year together, 2012, was the most successful of Gibb / Rosenthal: After two Grand Slam victories on the FIVB World Tour in Rome and Gstaad, they finished fifth at the Olympic Games in London and finally also became FIVB Tour Champion . From 2013 to 2016 Jake Gibb played with Casey Patterson and won the Shanghai Grand Slam . Then they were in the finals in Corrientes and at the Continental Cup in Campinas and were fifth in The Hague . At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki , Gibb / Patterson reached the main round as third in the group, where they were eliminated from their compatriots Dalhausser / Rosenthal . Also in the following years Gibb / Patterson had numerous top ten placements on the World Tour. They also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio .

Taylor Crabb has been Gibbs' partner since 2017 , with whom he won the FIVB 4-star tournament in Chetumal , Mexico in 2019 .

Private

Jacob Gibb is one of the few AVP Tour players who did not play volleyball in college. While growing up in Bountiful, Utah, he played golf and basketball and only started playing beach volleyball with his twin brother Coleman when he was 21 years old. Jacob is the youngest of 11 siblings. He is married and has lived in Costa Mesa, Southern California , since 2002 .
