Taylor Crabb (born January 26, 1992 in Honolulu ) is an American beach volleyball player .
Career
Crabb began his career as a volleyball player at Punahou High School in Honolulu. In 2009 he took part in the Youth World Championship in Italy and in 2010 he won the NORCECA Championship in Gatineau with the US Juniors . In 2011 he also reached the semi-finals of the Junior World Cup in Brazil . During his studies at Long Beach State University , he played on the university team from 2011 to 2014.
In 2011 he played his first beach volleyball tournament in Hermosa Beach with his older brother Trevor Crabb . In 2013 the brothers played in the series of the National Volleyball League (NVL) in Hermosa Beach (13th place) and on the AVP tour a tournament in Manhattan Beach (25th place). In 2015, Taylor Crabb first appeared on the AVP tour with Spencer McLachlin in New Orleans , New York City and Seattle . After that, the brothers played together again, finishing third in Manhattan Beach, ninth in Chicago , fifth in Mason and third again in Huntington Beach . In Xiamen they played their first tournament on the FIVB World Tour and came in ninth place. In October they won the NORCECA tournament in St. Lucia . At the beginning of 2016, further tournament victories in this series followed in Guatemala City and Grand Cayman . In seven AVP tournaments, the Crabb brothers came in second or third. On the World Tour 2016 they finished ninth in the Cincinnati Open and the majors in Gstaad and Klagenfurt . At the Grand Slam in Long Beach , however, they did not make the top ten for the first time with 17th place.
Since 2017 Taylor Crabb has formed a new duo with two-time Olympian Jacob Gibb . At the start of the World Tour , Gibb / Crabb finished fifth at the five-star tournament in Fort Lauderdale and fifth at the four-star tournament in Rio de Janeiro . After an early exit in Moscow , they won the AVP tournament in New York. Then they finished fifth and ninth in the FIVB series at the highest rated tournaments in Poreč and Gstaad . At the Long Beach Presidents Cup they also came in fifth. In 2018 they reached fourth place at the FIVB 5-star tournament in Gstaad. In 2019 Crabb / Gibb won the FIVB 4-star tournament in Chetumal, Mexico .
family
In addition to his brother Trevor, Taylor Crabb has other relatives who were successful in volleyball. His uncle Tony Crabb was the assistant coach of the US national team that won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympics . His cousin Lindsey Berg took part in the 2004 , 2008 and 2012 Olympics and won two silver medals.
