Mariusz Prudel (born January 21, 1986 in Rybnik ) is a Polish beach volleyball player . He took part in two Olympic Games and won two bronze medals at European championships.

Career

In 2005 Prudel made his first appearance on the FIVB World Tour at the Stavanger Open with Rafal Szternel . At the U20 European Championship in Tel Aviv , he and Grzegorz Fijałek had to admit defeat to the Latvians Janis and Toms Šmēdiņš in the final. At the U21 World Cup in Rio de Janeiro , however, he retired early with Grzegorz Jaruga . In 2006 he was unsuccessful at the Open tournaments in Marseille with Tomasz Sinczak and in Stare Jabłonki with Patryk Fogel . With Fijałek he reached fifth place at the U21 World Cup in Mysłowice . In 2007 he competed with Fogel at the Stare Jabłonki Open and with Szternel at the CEV tournaments in St. Pölten , Moscow and Hamburg , with 17th place at the German tournament being the best result.

From 2008 Prudel formed a permanent duo with Grzegorz Fijałek . In Prague and Stare Jabłonki , Fijałek / Prudel played their first open tournament on the FIVB World Tour and each achieved 17th place. At the European Championships in Hamburg , Fijałek / Prudel only failed shortly before the semi-finals in the tie-break against the Dutch Numbers / Schuil and the Russians Barsuk / Kolodinski . In the FIVB series, they achieved fourth place after further double-digit results in Manama . In 2009 they were twice ninth and once seventh at the CEV Masters tournaments in Gran Canaria , Baden and Berlin . Then they achieved top ten results on the World Tour with seventh place in Stare Jabłonki and ninth place in Åland . At the European Championships in Sochi , they were group winners in front of two teams with equal points and lost again in the quarterfinals to Numbers / Schuil, who then won the final.

On the 2010 World Tour , Fijałek / Prudel established themselves in the top ten with three fifth and two ninth places. They finished fourth at the Grand Slam in Gstaad before winning bronze at the Marseille Open and again fifth at the Klagenfurt Grand Slam. The European Championship in Berlin ended for the two Poles in the round of 16 against the Spaniards Lario / Mesa . In the 2011 World Tour , they were ninth at the Shanghai Open and fourth at the Grand Slam in Beijing . At the World Cup in Rome , they reached the quarter-finals, which they lost to the German duo Brink / Reckermann . Then they reached the final of the Grand Slam in Stavanger against the Brazilians Márcio Araújo and Ricardo Santos . After a fourth place in Gstaad and a fifth place in Moscow they played another final in Stare Jabłonki, this time against the US duo Dalhausser / Rogers . At the EM 2011 in Kristiansand they came as group winners straight into the round of 16, in which they were defeated by the defending champions Numberdor / Schuil. On the World Tour they finished fourth in Åland and seventh in The Hague.

The EM 2012 in Scheveningen ended for Fijałek / Prudel after the preliminary round, as they were eliminated early in the group as the bottom of the group. At the Grand Slams of the World Tour they came ninth in Moscow, third in Berlin and again ninth in Klagenfurt. They qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time via the ranking list. They finished the Olympic tournament in London after finishing second in the preliminary group and a successful round of 16 with a defeat in the quarter-finals against the Brazilian Emanuel / Alison in fifth. They then achieved this result at the Grand Slam in Stare Jabłonki. They started the 2013 World Tour with four fifth places and one third place in The Hague . At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki , Fijałek / Prudel reached the first main round as group winners, in which they were eliminated against the Brazilians Pedro / Bruno . At the EM in Klagenfurt they came through the preliminary round without losing a set and with two tiebreak wins in the semi-finals, which they lost against the Latvians Šmēdiņš / Samoilovs ; in the game for bronze they then prevailed against the Italians Lupo / Nicolai . At the following Grand Slams in Berlin and São Paulo , they finished fifth and ninth.

In 2014 , Fijałek / Prudel won the CEV Masters in Baden against the Austrians Doppler / Horst after finishing ninth at the Grand Slam in Shanghai . At the 2014 European Championship in Quartu Sant'Elena there was the same duel in the quarterfinals that the Poles lost this time. In Moscow they were defeated by the Russians Semjonow / Krassilnikow in the final of the Grand Slam and in Berlin they were fifth. After two double-digit results, they played two finals against Rosenthal / Dalhausser in The Hague and Long Beach , in which first the Poles and then the Americans were successful. This was followed by fifth place in Klagenfurt and ninth places in Stare Jabłonki and São Paulo. In 2015 Fijałek / Prudel finished fourth in the CEV Masters in Jūrmala and on the World Tour there was a third place in Stavanger and ninth places in Moscow, Poreč and Saint Petersburg . At the World Cup in the Netherlands they won their preliminary group in front of two teams with equal points, but were eliminated in the first knockout round against the Brazilians Pedro / Evandro . After two ninth places in Gstaad and Yokohama , they reached the quarter-finals as group winners at the European Championships in Klagenfurt , which they lost to the Dutch Numbersdor / Varenhorst . They finished the season with two ninth places in Long Beach and Olsztyn .

On the World Tour 2016 , Fijałek / Prudel initially achieved consistently top ten results, including fourth place at the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro and third place at the Antalya Open. At the EM 2016 in Biel / Bienne , they came into the semi-finals as group winners with two tie-break victories in the knockout round; after losing to the Russian duo Semjonow / Krassilnikow, they won the bronze medal again against the Dutch Brouwer / Meeuwsen . Four ninth places followed on the World Tour, only the Gstaad Major was less successful with 17th place. Fijałek / Prudel qualified for the Olympic Games and had to admit defeat to Canadians Schalk / Saxton in Rio de Janeiro as third in the preliminary round in the Lucky Loser game . After a ninth place at the Grand Slam in Long Beach, they reached fifth place at the World Tour final in Toronto . After that, they parted ways.

In 2017 Prudel formed a new duo with Kacper Kujawiak . They achieved their best joint result so far with ninth place in the four-star tournament of the World Tour in Rio de Janeiro .
