Chaim Schalk (born April 23, 1986 in Red Deer ) is an American-Canadian volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Schalk played indoor volleyball in his Canadian homeland with the Red Deer Kings in his youth . From 2006 to 2009 he was a setter for the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley (British Columbia) , where his brothers Jaben, Seth and Mikiah also played. After that, Schalk switched to the sand and played with Martin Reader from 2010 to 2011 and with Matt Zbyszewski on the FIVB World Tour from 2010 to 2011 , albeit with little success. Since 2013, Schalk has played more successfully alongside Ben Saxton . At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki , Saxton / Schalk made it to the quarter-finals. Here, however, they had to admit defeat to the Brazilians Alison / Emanuel and finished fifth. In 2015 and 2016 Saxton / Schalk had several podium placements on the FIVB World Tour. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Canadians finished ninth. In 2017 they reached fifth place at the World Cup in Vienna .

At the end of 2017, Schalk separated from Saxton and wants to start for the United States in the future.
