Ben Saxton (born November 21, 1988 in Calgary ) is a Canadian beach volleyball player .

Career

Saxton played volleyball and beach volleyball in his hometown at Canuck Stuff Volleyball Club as a teenager . At the side of Will Pasieka he was Canadian U16 champion in 2004 and Canadian U18 runner-up in 2004 and 2005. Saxton / Pasieka also took part in the U19 World Championships in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 Saxton took part in the first international tournaments with Mark Ellingson . After Saxton had played two smaller tournaments with Martin Reader in 2008, he started with Jessi Lelliott and in 2010 with Steve Marshall on the FIVB World Tour , albeit with little success. Even with Christian Redmann there was no top ten placement on the FIVB World Tour, but Redmann / Saxton won the silver medal at the 2011 NORCECA championship in Mexico. Since 2013, Saxton has been playing more successfully alongside Chaim Schalk . At the World Cup in Stare Jabłonki , Saxton / Schalk made it to the quarter-finals. Here, however, they had to admit defeat to the Brazilians Alison / Emanuel and finished fifth. In 2015 and 2016 Saxton / Schalk had several podium placements on the FIVB World Tour. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Canadians finished ninth. In 2017 they reached fifth place at the World Cup in Vienna .

Saxton has been playing alongside Grant O'Gorman since the end of 2017 . At their first joint tournament on the FIVB World Tour in Sydney , the Canadians took first place.
