Jan Dumek (born April 13, 1986 in Turnov ) is a Czech beach volleyball player .

Career

Dumek began his career in 1996 in Mnichovo Hradiště as an indoor volleyball player . From 2000 to 2005 he played in the youth teams of Liberec and won the national championship three times. At the same time, he played his first beach volleyball tournaments with Ondrej Vlcek from 2003 and became Czech runner-up in 2005. A year later he took part in the U21 World Cup in Mysłowice with Viktor Pak .

In 2007 and early 2008 Dumek played his first tournaments in the international Open series with David Kufa . From the Grand Slam in Stavanger he formed a new duo with Přemysl Kubala . At the end of the year he finally got together with his current partner Martin Tichý at the Mallorca Open and reached the top ten of an open tournament in Manama in ninth place for the first time. In 2009 Dumek / Tichý were in the final of the Czech championship. A year later they qualified for a European championship for the first time; at the tournament in Berlin they just missed the advance in a group of three teams with the same points. The following year they won the national title. They also took part in the Universiade in Shenzhen and came in 13th. At the EM 2012 in Scheveningen they came third in the group in the first main round, in which they were narrowly defeated by the experienced Dutch Numbers / Schuil .
