Philip Gabathuler (born December 24, 1982 in Steinhausen ZG ) is a Swiss beach volleyball player .

Career

After Gabathuler had already completed his first international tournaments at the side of Michael Wälchli in 2003, he formed a duo with David Wenger in 2004 , who achieved several top placements in satellite and challenger tournaments. In 2007 Gabathuler / Wenger entered the world championship in Gstaad with a wildcard and retired after the preliminary round as third in the group behind the Dutch Boersma / Ronnes tied on points . The following year they had to admit defeat to the Poles Fijałek / Prudel and the Italians Cavaliere / Galli in three sets at the European Championships in Hamburg . At the 2009 World Cup in Stavanger , they failed as the bottom of the group. Then they parted ways.

Gabathuler now met Jan Schnider . The new duo finished ninth at the Kristiansand Open 2009 and the Grand Slam in Gstaad . At the 2011 World Cup in Rome they came in second in the group in the first main round and lost there against the Germans Dollinger / Windscheif . In August they started at the EM in Kristiansand , where they lost in the round of 16 against Latvians Paviņš / J. Šmēdiņš . At the end of the 2011 season, the Gabathuler / Schnider team split up due to failure to achieve their goals.

Gabathuler played with Mirco Gerson in 2012 . At the European Championships in Scheveningen , Gabathuler / Gerson reached the first main round as second in the group, which they also survived victoriously before they were defeated by the later third-placed Skarlund / Spinnangr from Norway. In 2013 Jonas Weingart was his partner. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Gabathuler / Weingart retired after the preliminary round despite a victory over Sweden's Gunnarsson / Brinkborg . After Weingart's resignation, Gabathuler played again from 2014 to 2016 with Mirco Gerson, with whom he became Swiss champion twice .
