Hannes Brinkborg (born July 9, 1978 in Gotland ) is a Swedish volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Brinkborg decided to pursue a career in volleyball at school. He started in Sollentuna before going abroad to play for Noliko Maaseik and Málaga . He later returned to his homeland and was active in the Gotland Volleyboll team.

In 2002 he completed his first international beach volleyball tournaments with Mattias Magnusson . In 2006 he formed a new duo with Björn Berg . Fifth at the Marseille Open 2007, Brinkborg / Berg achieved their first top ten placement in an open tournament. The following year they lost their opening game at the European Championships in Hamburg against the Germans Matysik / Uhmann and were eliminated in the losing round against the Russians Barsuk / Kolodinski . At the end of the year, Brinkborg and his new partner Stefan Gunnarsson reached ninth place in Sanya . At the 2011 World Cup , they failed as the worst of three teams in the preliminary round. Also at the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki Brinkborg / Gunnarson were eliminated after the preliminary round despite a victory over the Dutch Numbersdor / Schuil .
