Karl Björn Emanuel Berg (born January 24, 1972 in Umeå ) is a Swedish beach volleyball player .

Career

After Berg had completed his first international tournaments, he formed a duo with his long-term partner Simon Dahl in 1997 . In 1999 Berg / Dahl finished 41st at the World Championships in Marseille and 17th at the European Championships in Palma . The next year they lost to the Czechs Palinek / Lébl in the third round of the European Championship in Getxo with 15:17 and were eliminated against the Norwegian team Kvalheim / Maaseide . The Olympic tournament in Sydney ended for the two Swedes after two defeats against the Brazilians Zé Marco / Ricardo and the Spaniards Bosma / Díez after two games.

In 2001 they reached the first main round of the World Cup in Klagenfurt against the Americans Wong / Metzger . A month later they were defeated by the German duo Dieckmann / Slacanin in three sets in the losing round of the EM in Jesolo . Although they made it into the top ten in various open tournaments in 2002, they did not come in 13th at the European Championships . The most important tournaments of 2003 also ran differently. In the round of 16 of the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro , Berg / Dahl were only defeated by the later finalists Holdren / Metzger , while at the European Championships in Alanya they fell out in the preliminary round. They were more successful the following year in Timmendorfer Strand , when they reached the quarter-finals against the German duo Klemperer / Rademacher and took fifth place. In the Olympic tournament in Athens they had to admit defeat to the silver medalists Bosma / Herrera in the round of 16 . They then parted ways.

Berg now played with Robert Svensson . The new duo failed at the 2005 World Cup in Berlin because of the Swiss Heyer / Laciga and the Austrians Nowotny / Gartmayer . The Swedes could not qualify for any European championship. At the end of 2006, Berg met Hannes Brinkborg . At the EM 2008 in Hamburg , Berg / Brinkborg lost their first game against the Germans Kay Matysik and Stefan Uhmann and were then eliminated against the Russians Barsuk / Kolodinski . In 2009 and 2010 Berg played a few tournaments with Daniel Andersson .
