Emiel Nicolaas Paulus Boersma (born August 25, 1980 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch beach volleyball player .

Career

Boersma completed a few open tournaments with Bram Ronnes in 2002 before forming a new duo with Max Backer the following year . Boersma / Backer finished fifth in the 2003 European Championship after they were only defeated by the Germans Dieckmann / Reckermann in the quarterfinals . Then they failed, however, in the preliminary round of the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro . With Richard de Kogel , Boersma had to admit defeat to eventual winners Márcio Araújo / Fábio Luiz at the 2005 World Cup in Berlin , after the two Dutch defeated champions Emanuel / Ricardo in the second main round . In the same year Boersma became Dutch champion.

At the 2006 European Championship , Boersma and his new teammate Mathijs Mast had two national duels after their opening win against the Russians Barsuk / Kolodinski , in which they first defeated Numberdor / Richard Schuil in three sets before they beat the eventual finalists Jochem de Gruijter / Ronnes lost. Then they were eliminated against the Germans Klemperer / Schneider . In 2007 and 2008 Boersma played again with Bram Ronnes. At the World Cup in Gstaad , the reunited duo came second in the group behind the tournament winners Rogers / Dalhausser from the USA and reached the round of 16 against their final opponents Barsuk / Kolodinski. Against the Russians they were also defeated at the European Championship in 2007 , before they were eliminated one round before the semifinals against the Germans Klemperer / Koreng and took fifth place. The next year it was only 17th in Hamburg . Nevertheless, they were able to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing . There they defeated the Germans Brink / Dieckmann in the last group game , but failed in the playoffs of the third group against Klemperer / Koreng.

In 2009 Boersma formed a new duo with Joppe Paulides , for which participation in the World Cup in Stavanger ended prematurely due to an injury. After an unsuccessful partnership with Alexander Brouwer , he got together with his current teammate Daan Spijkers in 2010 . At the 2011 World Cup, Boersma / Spijkers were eliminated as the bottom group after the preliminary round. In August 2011, Boersma / Spijkers failed again at Klemperer / Koreng in the second round of the European Championships in Kristiansand . They then finished fifth at the The Hague Open.

They achieved the same result at the Grand Slams in Shanghai and Beijing in 2012 . At the European Championships in Scheveningen they reached the knockout round in front of their home crowd as second behind Klemperer / Koreng. There they prevailed against the Austrians Müllner / Wutzl and in the round of 16 against the Germans Erdmann / Matysik . They then defeated Numbersdor / Schuil in the national duel . With a 2: 1 in the semifinals against Skarlund / Spinnangr from Norway, they reached the final, which they lost against the defending champions Brink / Reckermann . After the European Championship, Boersma / Spijkers finished fifth in the Berlin Grand Slam before they parted ways a little later.

At the Grand Slam 2013 in The Hague , Boersma competed with Richard de Kogel .
