Career

Petr Beneš played his first FIVB tournaments in 1997 and 1998 with his brother Josef Beneš . In 2005 he returned to the international beach competitions. The Beneš brothers lost to the German duo Dieckmann / Scheuerpflug in the second main round of the 2005 European Championships and were eliminated by the Lithuanians Cyvas / Vasiliauskas . The following year the tournament in The Hague was over for her after two games, as was the 2007 European Championship in Valencia . In the following year, Beneš formed a new duo with Martin Tichý , who was ninth in the Grand Slam in Klagenfurt . At the EM in Hamburg , however, he competed with Přemysl Kubala . After a defeat in the second round against the Germans Brink / Dieckmann, they made it to the fifth losing round, in which they lost against the Swiss Heuscher / Heyer .

Beneš has formed a permanent duo with Kubala since 2009. The Czechs achieved some top positions in Masters tournaments in their first year together, but were eliminated in the preliminary round of the 2009 European Championships , although they were tied with their competitors from Poland and Spain. In 2010 they got some top ten results in Grand Slams and Open tournaments while missing the European Championship. In the following year they came as group winners in the first main round of the World Cup in Rome and had to admit defeat to the Brazilians Bruno / Benjamin in three sets . They then finished ninth in three consecutive Grand Slams and just barely missed the semifinals in Klagenfurt against the eventual winners Ricardo / Cunha . At the European Championships in Kristiansand in 2011 and in Scheveningen in 2012 , they each landed on 17th place. At the 2012 Olympic tournament in London , Beneš / Kubala were third in their preliminary group and then retired after a 2-1 defeat by the Germans Erdmann / Matysik . At the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki they were eliminated after the preliminary round despite a victory over the Kazakhs Jakowlew / Kuleschow .
