Jörg Ahmann

Jörg Ahmann (born February 12, 1966 in Grevenbroich ) is a former German volleyball and beach volleyball player and today's coach.

Life

With his partner Axel Hager , he is considered a pioneer of professional German beach volleyball in Germany. They were the first ever German beach volleyball player to win a medal at the Olympic Games ( bronze in 2000 in Sydney ). In their honor, the beach volleyball stadium in Timmendorfer Strand , where the German championships take place every year, was named Ahmann-Hager-Arena .

The 1.90 m tall Ahmann has been actively playing indoor volleyball since 1980. During his studies at RWTH Aachen , he played in the student national team and for the then second division Dürener TV from 1987 to 1990 , before joining the volleyball department of Hamburger SV (or 1 . VC Hamburg ) moved to the first Bundesliga. Further stations were again the Dürener TV, from 2000 the Eimsbütteler TV and most recently SV Fellbach ; He played his first beach tournament in 1990. After his last German championships in 2004, he briefly retired from professional beach volleyball. Since July 1, 2005, he has been the U23 national trainer for the German national beach volleyball team, as well as team manager beach and base manager south. Since 2011, Ahmann has been playing indoor volleyball again at TSV Schmiden , both in the Oberliga Württemberg and among the seniors, with whom he has won multiple German championships.

Jörg Ahmann is married to the beach volleyball player Andrea Ahmann .
