Annamaria Solazzi (born December 10, 1965 in Ancona ) is a former Italian beach volleyball player . She was a three-time European champion and took part in the Olympic Games twice.

Career

Solazzi completed her first international tournaments in 1994 and 1995 with Consuelo Turetta . In 1996 in Atlanta they took part in the first Olympic tournament and were defeated by the Brazilians Mônica Rodrigues / Adriana Samuel and the Norwegians Berntsen / Hestad .

Then Solazzi formed a permanent duo with Laura Bruschini , who won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Pescara . The following year, Bruschini / Solazzi won the title for the first time in Riccione with a win in the final against their compatriots Daniela Gattelli and Lucilla Perrotta . At the first World Cup they finished ninth in the same year. After a third place in Rhodes in 1998 , they celebrated their second European Championship title in Rhodes in 1999 (final against the French Prawerman / Rigaux ), which they successfully defended a year later in Getxo with a win against Jana Vollmer and Danja Müsch . At the 1999 World Cup , they finished 17th.

The 2000 Olympic tournament ended for Bruschini / Solazzi in the quarter-finals against the Australian duo Cook / Pottharst . They were also fifth at the 2001 World Cup after a quarter-final defeat against the Czech Celbová / Nováková . Two years later, however, they failed in Rio de Janeiro without winning a set in the preliminary round. At the 2004 European Championships , Bruschini / Solazzi finished fifth. At the end of the year, the duo split.

With Nicoletta Luciani , Solazzi did not get past 33rd place at the 2005 World Cup in Berlin after defeats against McPeak / Kessy (USA) and Gerlic / Clarke (Australia).
