The focus of Gadenstätter's work is the work on the banal, as well as on the musical iconography. Since 2010 the idea of working on “understanding in hearing” has been the focus of his work. His music works on the conditions of possibility for other forms of perception and experience. For him, music is an anthropological project - at the same time a study of human perception and exploration of its possibilities for expansion and change. In this way music becomes political in the sense of a politics of forms of perception and understanding.
Since 1992 there have been various collaborations with artists such as Joseph Santarromana, Rose Breuss, Toni Kay and Lisa Spalt.
