Erich Urbanner

Erich Urbanner (born March 26, 1936 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian composer and music teacher .

biography

Urbanner studied composition with Karl Schiske and Hanns Jelinek , piano with Grete Hinterhofer and conducting with Hans Swarowsky at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1955 to 1961 . At the Darmstadt Summer Courses he took composition courses with Wolfgang Fortner , Karlheinz Stockhausen and Bruno Maderna .

From 1961 he taught score playing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 1969 he became a full professor for composition and composition. From 1969 to 1974 he headed the twelve-tone seminar, from 1986 to 1989 the Institute for Electroacoustics and Experimental Music. Since 1968 he has also worked as a conductor.

Urbanner composed pieces for solo instruments, chamber music, orchestral works (including several instrumental concerts, a mass and a requiem as well as several operas).
