Angela Clarke (born November 2, 1975 in Adelaide ) is a former Australian volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Clarke took part in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney with the Australian national team. Australia managed only one win against Kenya , which meant the end in the preliminary round.

As a beach volleyball player, Clarke played her first international tournaments in 1996 in the world series with Annette Huygens Tholen . Clarke / Tholen finished fifth in Busan and three times ninth. At the first World Championships in Los Angeles in 1997, they finished 17th. From 1997 to 1999, Clarke played with Natalie Cook . In addition to two fifth places, the duo achieved third place in Acapulco . The 1999 World Cup in Marseille finished ninth. In the year of her Olympics, Clarke played in the sand with Nicole Sanderson . She then competed with Kylie Gerlic . At the World Cup in Klagenfurt , the Australians prevailed as group runner-up in the first knockout round against the Germans Pohl / Rau before they were defeated by the eventual winners Adriana Behar / Shelda from Brazil in the round of 16 . They also came in 13th at the Goodwill Games in Brisbane .

With her new partner Tania Gooley , Clarke finished fifth in both Stavanger and Maoming in 2002 . The next year she played three tournaments with Kerri Pottharst , which brought her a ninth place in the Klagenfurt Grand Slam and two fifth places in Lianyungang and Bali . Then she got back together with Gerlic. At the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro , the reunited duo failed as group runner-up in the first main round to the Bulgarian Yantschulowa sisters. Two years later, Gerlic / Clarke won their opening game of the World Cup in Berlin against the Germans Claasen / Röder , before losing in three sets against the Dutch Mooren / Kadijk and finally eliminated by Adriana Behar / Shelda.
