Career
Simone Kuhn played beach volleyball internationally for the first time in 2000. With her partner at the time, Nicole Schnyder-Benoit , she became Vice European Champion in Jesolo in 2001 . At the EM 2002 in Basel , the duo took fifth place as well as a year later in Alanya . In 2003 Kuhn and Schnyder-Benoit also reached the top ranks on the world tour for the first time (fourth in Japan and twice fifth). They celebrated their greatest mutual success in 2004 when they won the European Championship in Timmendorfer Strand . They also took part in the Olympic Games in Athens together . After this successful year, the duo separated and Lea Schwer became Kuhn's new partner. The duo, trained by Jean-Charles Vergé-Dépré, finished seventh in the 2005 Grand Slam in Paris and in 2006 achieved three ninth places in Grand Slam tournaments. In 2007 Kuhn / Schwer took seventh place in Kristiansand . At the 2007 World Cup in Gstaad , however, they did not get past 17th place despite their home advantage. Due to the injury-related cancellation of the Austrian duo Montagnolli / Swoboda , Kuhn / Schwer qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games at short notice . In Beijing, however, they were eliminated without a win after the preliminary round. After Lea Schwer's resignation, Simone Kuhn and Nadine Zumkehr have been forming a new Swiss national team since 2009 . In their first year together, they were able to achieve some top ten results on the World Tour. In addition, Kuhn / Zumkehr became Swiss champions and won the bronze medal at the European championships . With the tournament victory at the penultimate season event of the FIVB World Tour in Sanya , the duo Kuhn / Zumkehr reached another career highlight . In the 18-year history of the World Tour, there has never been a Swiss women's beach volleyball team on top of the podium.

In 2012 Kuhn / Zumkehr won the final of the Grand Slam in Rome against Goller / Ludwig with 21:12 and 21:18. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 they were eliminated 2-0 against Ross / Kessy (USA) in the round of 16, finishing ninth.
