Lea Schwer (born January 13, 1982 in Basel , Switzerland ) is a Swiss beach volleyball player .

Career

Schwer played her first international tournaments in 2002 together with Dinah Kilchenmann . The duo took part in the 2003 European Championship and World Tour. Schwer became vice European champion of the U23 in 2004 and finished 17th with Kilchmann at the World Tour tournament in Gstaad . In the same year she also played with Sarah Rohrer and Isabelle Forrer , with whom she reached 13th place in Rio de Janeiro . Then she got together with her current partner Simone Kuhn . The 2005 Swiss champions finished seventh in the same year at the Grand Slam in Paris and achieved three ninth places in Grand Slam tournaments in 2006. In 2007, the duo trained by Jean-Charles Vergé-Dépré finished seventh in Kristiansand . At the World Championships in Gstaad , however, they did not get past 17th place despite their home advantage. Due to the injury-related cancellation of the Austrian duo Montagnolli / Swoboda , Kuhn / Schwer qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games at short notice . In Beijing, however, they were eliminated without a win after the preliminary round. Lea Schwer ended her professional career at the end of August 2008 and from then on devoted herself to her studies.
