Leinemann was a German music group from Hamburg . The band was part of the Hamburg scene around Uncle Pö .

Career

The group was founded in 1969 by Gottfried Böttger , Jerry Bahrs, Uli Salm, Django Seelenmeyer and Ulf Krüger . 1974 Böttger was replaced by Berry Sarluis and Lonzo . Later Karl-Heinz Blumenberg (previously Thrice Mice and Altona ) and Dieter Borchardt also belonged to the band.

Originally, Leinemann was a jazz and skiffle band , but then developed a sound from rock music and ragtime and later devoted himself to the Schlager genre . Their first long-playing record appeared in 1971, on which Leinemann only sang English-language titles. At the end of the 1970s, things got quieter for the band.

Leinemann started a new beginning with German-language titles. In 1980 she had her first major success with Volldampf-Radio , a cover version of the Matchbox hit Midnite Dynamos from the same year (appearance in October 1980 on the ZDF hit parade ). In 1981, the group took part in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Grand Prix and came fifth with the title The Loch Ness Monster . In February 1982 the band took first place on the ZDF hit parade with the title Don't be afraid of rock 'n' roll . In the preliminary round in 1983 , the title I'll tear all walls reached seventh place.

In 1985, Leinemann had her greatest success with the single Mein Tuut Tuut , a cover version of the song (Don't Mess With) My Toot Toot by Rockin 'Sidney from 1984. In April 1992, Leinemann appeared with the title Nick Nack on ZDF Hit parade at Uwe Huebner . Subsequently, however, the band could not build on their commercial success and finally broke up in 1993.

From the beginning of 2000, the original line-up met at irregular intervals for benefit events and small club concerts. They last appeared in 2009 on the 50th birthday of the Cotton Club in Hamburg.
