Altona was a German jazz rock group that existed from 1972 to 1975. The style of the septet was called Brassrock and Wagner-Rock and was in the tradition of Thrice Mice by Karl-Heinz Blumenberg and Werner von Gosen .

Best known is the instrumental title “Überlandfahrt”, which is mainly characterized by Blumenberg's saxophone playing and Gosen's guitar improvisations with wah-wah effects. In the 1970s the piece could be heard every Thursday on the hr1 show "Hitparade International".

The formation was also involved in the titles "I would like to me", "Knoblauch" and "Liedermacher" by Hanns Dieter Hüsch , which Hanns Dieter Hüsch performed as part of his performance on March 7, 1975 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and which are part of the double album produced from them Night performance were. In particular, the piece "Liedermacher", with which Hanns Dieter Hüsch satirized the then - predominantly - German-speaking genre, gained a certain degree of popularity and was played more often by radio stations (such as WDR II in the afternoon programs). The LPs were released by RCA ; As of 2001 they were reissued as CDs by disconforme .
