Hamburg scene

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hamburg scene is a term coined by journalists in the mid- 1970s for the jazz and fun musician klüngel , which had developed around the music bar Onkel Pö and combined Dixieland jazz with elements from rock and pop music . This new scene or current of music was previously known as Hamburger Gute Laune .

In keeping with the relaxed attitude towards life of the 1970s, many short-lived bands were founded, whose frequently changing line-up came together again and again to create new variations with great enthusiasm for experimentation. This zeitgeist was also reflected in the music, which was rather brisk and light-hearted. The predominantly German texts are unusually creative and entertaining, always with a wink, even on socially critical topics.

The best-known representatives were among others Udo Lindenberg , Otto Waalkes , Hans Scheibner , Hans Herbert Boehrs , Kurt Schulzke , Peter Petrel , Wilken F. Dincklage alias "Willem", Caro , the pensioner band (among others with pianist Gottfried Böttger , "Teufelsgeiger" Lonzo and Werner Böhm ) as well as the groups Leinemann , Frumpy with Inga Rumpf , Meyers Dampfkapelle , Truck Stop , Schulzke's Scandal Trupp , Torfrock and Okko, Lonzo, Berry, Chris & Timpe , Daddy's Group .

With the single Hamburg '75 , Hans Scheibner wrote his colleagues Gottfried & Lonzo a song as early as 1974 in which, as old people, they wistfully look back on the good old days of the Hamburg scene:

"Hamburg '75, guys it was cozy, there was still a real moon in the night, we still made the music by hand - that doesn't exist anymore today, it was a damn long time ago, a damned long time ago ..."

In 2005 the band Element of Crime recorded a new version of Hamburg '75 and released it as the B-side of the single Delmenhorst , and in 2010 it appeared on their album Fremde Federn .
