The pensioner band was a music group from Hamburg that was active between 1974 and 1982.

history

In 1974 the pensioners band was formed in Hamburg based on an idea by Ewald Lütge and Wilken F. Dincklage (nickname: "Der Dicke Willem"). The musicians involved were recruited from other existing bands: among them were Peter Petrel , the pianist Gottfried Böttger (piano, accordion, vocals), who belonged to Udo Lindenberg's panic orchestra, Lonzo (violin) and Django Seelenmeyer (banjo, mandolin), both of whom were also a member of Leinemann . The name of the band comes from Udo Lindenberg. Later also Berry Sarluis (known as the accompanying pianist of Karl Dall on television and theater stages), Charly Krüger and Werner Böhm belonged to it. The musicians mentioned belonged to the Hamburg scene at the time and some of them also lived together in the shared apartment of the " Villa Kunterbunt "

The song Hamburger Deern , published in 1974, is the German version of the English hit Liverpool Lou by the group "The Scaffold". The text tells the true story of how Peter Petrel met his future wife at Uncle Pö . The text of the Deern was spoken by Ingrid "Rosa" Unspoiled.

After the success of the first LP Allesklar , everything stays as it was , the short-term record project turned into a "Working Roadband", which celebrated successes as a live band with the pensioner band revue .

The pensioner band appeared on various television shows, including mood, stars and good mood (ZDF), songs on tap (ZDF), the ZDF hit parade and the Tony Marshall Show (ARD).

After the retirement band broke up, the musicians went their separate ways. Werner Böhm became known as Gottlieb Wendehals, Willem († 1994) went to Norddeutscher Rundfunk as a presenter and Hans Herbert Böhrs was initially seen as a comedian on the TV program Bananas ( WDR ). Today he is co-organizer of the Hamburger Stadtpark concerts and since 1976 organizer of the LiLaBe disguise party . Herbert Drapatz worked as an accompanist and studio musician with Dave Dudley , Ted Herold and Gunter Gabriel , among others . The country guitarist now works as a producer for various country music projects.

Udo Lindenberg put a musical memorial to the pensioner band (and Uncle Pö ) in his song Alles Klar auf der Andrea Doria :

“A retired band has been playing Dixieland at Uncle Pö's for 20 years; Got a groupie, her name is Rosa or something and she dances on the table like a go-go-go girl. "
