House number of the Rondeel Villa in Hamburg-Winterhude

Villa Kunterbunt , or Rondeel-Villa , was the name of the former Hamburg ambassador's private home when it housed a shared apartment in the 1970s that included many of today's well-known artists. The house is located in Rondeel 29 in Hamburg-Winterhude . In addition to Uncle Pö, it is considered another birthplace of the Hamburg scene .

background

The trained businessman Wilken F. Dincklage had given up his profession in order to found a music publisher together with the music producer Conny Plank . Dincklage, who later became known under the artist name “Willem”, was the main tenant of the house, which also became the seat of the “Kraut Musikverlag”.

He founded a shared apartment that included Udo Lindenberg , Marius Müller-Westernhagen , the journalist Günter Fink , Otto Waalkes , his manager Hans-Otto Mertens, Gottfried Böttger , Steffi Stephan and Lonzo Westphal . At times the flat had 14 residents. Music and texts were created in the Villa Kunterbunt, bands were founded, for example the pensioner band , and here was the cradle of song and comedy characters such as Rudi Ratlos, Gerhard Gösebrecht and Bodo Ballermann (Udo Lindenberg) or Commissioner Kringel, Ebbe Ebbesen and Harry Hirsch (Otto Waalkes). First appearances were planned with other flat-share residents in the rooms. The concerts were recorded at their own expense and the albums were sold through self-distribution.

The building at number 29 is now the headquarters of Dr. EA Langner Foundation.

Quotes

“Anyone who has n't been here and drank Pineau simply wasn't part of the Hamburg scene. And if you haven't stayed in the Rondeel Villa, even less. "

- Lonzo Westphal
