Wilken F. Dincklage (born August 21, 1942 in Hamburg as Wilken F. Müller , † October 18, 1994 ibid) was a German musician , radio host and actor . He was known under the stage name Willem or Der fat Willem .

Life

His birth name was Wilken F. Müller. When he married in 1973, however, he took his mother's maiden name as his family name and was henceforth Wilken F. Dincklage. Before Dincklage began his career as a musician, he worked as a businessman and tea taster. He later worked in Hamburg as an Eastern Bloc expert for an industrial group. In the early 1970s, Dincklage lived in the artist shared apartment Villa Kunterbunt in Hamburg-Winterhude . There he lived with Otto Waalkes , Udo Lindenberg and Marius Müller-Westernhagen , among others .

On October 18, 1994, Wilken F. Dincklage died of a pulmonary embolism at the age of 52 .

As a 15-year-old Dincklage bought a banjo and played in several jazz clubs in Hamburg. In the early 1960s, he then got a guitar . In 1972 he founded, among others, together with Peter Petrel , the pensioner band that emerged from the Hamburg scene at the time . In 1977 Dincklage finally left the pensioners band to continue working as a solo artist Willem . He achieved his greatest commercial successes mainly with cover versions , where he branded the respective original version; for example, Tarzan's Is Back contains a quote from Disco Duck by Rick Dees . In the spring of 1977, Tarzan ist there again reached number five in the German hit parade. In 1983 he achieved another chart placement at number 19 with Wat? , a German version of Captain Sensibles Wot , with which he also made it into the ZDF hit parade . He parodied the film ET - The Extra-Terrestrial . His last commercial hit was a cover version of Geil in 1986 , the original of which was sung by Bruce & Bongo . Willem also recorded the song Are You Lonely Tonight in 1975 , a cover version of Are You Lonesome Tonight? , in a duet with Helga Feddersen .

From 1972 onwards, Dincklage shifted his professional focus to moderation and began his broadcasting career initially with Saarländischer Rundfunk , where he regularly wrote and spoke for the program Pop Corner on SR2 Studiowelle Saar . With the introduction of a new youth magazine Drugstore 1421 on SR1 Europawelle Saar of the Saarländischer Rundfunk, he became a permanent presenter there. In addition, he later presented the programs Pop non stop and the Europa-Elf hit parade . From 1979 Willem ended his activity at Saarländischer Rundfunk and now worked for North German Broadcasting ( NDR 2 , NDR 1 Welle Nord ), Radio Bremen , Südfunk Stuttgart and West German Broadcasting . Regular broadcasts from him were, for example, Espresso (music guessing and singing, Das Dingsbumsspiel) , hits with Willem and Die Norddeutsche Top Fofftein .
