Rick Dees
Rick Dees , actually Rigdon Osmond Dees (* 14. March 1950 in Jacksonville (Florida) ) is an American radio - DJ . His show Daily Dees is widely distributed in the US through his own company "Dees Entertainment" .
life and career
Dees grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree with a major in radio and film studies . He lives in Toluca Lake, Southern California .
Dees has made guest appearances in a number of films and television series, such as Love Boat , Diagnosis: Murder and La Bamba . In 1999 he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame and received the People's Choice Award . In addition, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is dedicated to him.
With the song Disco Duck Dees was able to occupy number 1 in the US singles hit parade for a week in 1976 . The song was u. a. Covered by DJ Scott in 1977. The radio presenter Willem at the time also had a chart success with the song Tarzan is back , which contains a quote from "Disco Duck".
Dees served as the morning presenter on KIIS-FM radio station in Los Angeles for 23 years from 1982 to 2004 . Since 1983 he has also moderated the weekly chart show Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 , which is broadcast as a syndication in three different formats on around 350 US radio stations and on the Internet as a stream and podcast .
Starting in September 2006, Rick Dees was the morning presenter on the radio station KMVN Movin '93-9 FM in Los Angeles. After a format change of the station in April 2009, however, he ended his moderation work there.
He spread his show on his homepage "rick.com". On April 20, 2011 Dees returned to the sister station of KIIS, the transmitter KHHT (now KRRL). KHHT had changed its format to "Gold-based Rhythmic AC". Dees hosted his show here for a year. Daily Dees continued to be produced Monday through Friday and was widely distributed in the US via syndication.
