Danyel Gerard
Danyel Gérard (born March 7, 1939 in Paris ; real name Gérard Daniel Kherlakian) is a French pop singer and composer .
Life
Gérard was born the son of an Armenian and an Italian in Paris, but grew up predominantly in Rio de Janeiro . In 1953 he returned to Paris and was among other things a choirboy in the Notre Dame church . He later played in the rock and roll band "The Dangers". From 1959 to 1961 he was a soldier in North Africa. He then went to bistros as a singer and guitarist. He began to compose and wrote titles for stars like Johnny Hallyday , Sylvie Vartan , Dalida , Richard Anthony , Caterina Valente and Udo Jürgens , among others .
Gérard's first recording as a singer was in Memphis Tennessee . He had his breakthrough in 1971 with Butterfly , which he finally recorded in six languages due to its success. It was in the charts in several countries for weeks, was awarded several gold records and is now one of the evergreens . The song also found its way into the feature film The Great Aunties Strike (Director: Franz Josef Gottlieb). To this day, the song Butterfly Gérard is the most successful hit in Germany. In 2003 it was presented in the RTL broadcast Die ultimative Chartshow as the most successful hit in the German single charts of the last 30 years.
After a few more recordings, Gérard returned to composing for others. He lives on a farm near Paris.
