Nico Haak, 1980

Nico Haak (born October 16, 1939 in Delft , Netherlands ; † November 13, 1990 in Baarn , civil: Nicolaas Oliver Haak ) was a Dutch pop singer and entertainer .

Life

Together with his brother Dik, Nico Haak ran a car dealership in Delfgauw near Delft. While at work, he entertained himself and his fellow human beings with jokes and little whistled songs. In December 1970 he was discovered by a Delft band manager, Martin Stoelinga. He advised Haak to put together his own repertoire. Together with his neighbor, the musician Polle Eduard (at that time a member of the bands Tee Set and their break-off After Tea ), Haak designed some songs. Through Stoelinga's contacts, Haak also came into contact with the Dutch music producer Cor Aaftink (1934-2010) and recorded a record entitled “Ik zou zo graag in mijn leven” (the B-side of this single contains the song “De Vlieger ”, which comes from Haak and Han Grevelt and later became known through the interpretation of André Hazes ). The record was played on several national radio stations. Haak had his first appearances and put together a band with the name De Paniekzaaiers with Peter Koelewijn and Eduard Polle . The "Paniksäer" consisted of Jan and Aad Eland, Karel Schouten and Hennie Asman.

Nico Haak and his Paniekzaaiers had their first television appearance in a show by Ted de Braak, where they sang the song Daar zie ik glazen staan . The catchy party song proved to be a success, but Haak had the final breakthrough in 1973 with the song Joekelille . In 1974 the success continued with Honkie-Tonkie Pianissie and Sokkie's Stopping . After the collaboration with Eduard was over, Haak achieved his greatest success in 1975: Foxie Foxtrot . With this song he also conquered the German market. The cabaret artist Hans Scheibner wrote the text and under the title Schmidtchen Schleicher the piece rose to number 4 in the German single charts. Nico Haak had numerous appearances on radio and television, a. a. in the ZDF youth show disco . In 1978 Haak worked again with Eduard and achieved his last great success with Is je moeder niet thuis? . During the 1980s Haak also had a lot of appearances, but could no longer build on his successes in the seventies.

Haak has three children with his wife Jeanne: Nico, Kees and Eric (who died as a child).

In 1990 Haak died unexpectedly of a heart attack. He was buried with his son Eric in a family grave in Jaffa Cemetery in Delft.

His son Kees performed songs from his father in 2010. The motto was also similar: Haak gevraagd, feest geslaagd! (German: "Haak asked, party successful!")
