Henderson is the second largest city in the US state of Nevada with a population of over 290,000 (estimate by the US Census Bureau 2016) . It is located in Clark County , about 20 kilometers south of Las Vegas and has an area of ​​206.4 km². The population density is 1125 inhabitants / km 2 . Nevada State College is located in Henderson . The city emerged in the 1940s and was named after US Senator Charles B. Henderson .

On May 4, 1988, there was a serious chemical accident at the chemical company Pepcon in Henderson, which resulted in a fire and two large explosions.
