The Nevada State College is a state college in Henderson in the State of Nevada . The college was founded on September 3, 2002 as the third state college in Nevada and has 66 faculty and approximately 3,400 students (as of 2013). The school colors are black and gold and the school mascot is a scorpion .

Some college courses, such as economics, have suffered from very low enrollment rates. In order to save costs, a number of secret employees were recently laid off.

Another concern is the above-average graduation rate among students. By late spring 2008, 16% of full-time students who enrolled in college in the fall of 2002 graduated and 11% of new students in 2003 graduated, one-third of the graduation rates at California state colleges. The average 6-year college graduation rate in the United States is 57%.
