Arnaud Marcel Maurice Clément (born December 17, 1977 in Aix-en-Provence ) is a former French tennis player .
Career
In his career he won four ATP titles in singles, 2000 in Lyon , 2002 in Metz and 2006 in Marseille and Washington ; in seven other tournaments he reached the final. There were also 12 doubles titles and ten other doubles finals on the ATP Tour.
His greatest success in a Grand Slam tournament was the entry into the final of the Australian Open in 2001. On the way there, Clément defeated Tommy Robredo , Roger Federer , Evgeni Kafelnikow , Greg Rusedski and Sébastien Grosjean, among others . In the final he was defeated by Andre Agassi 4: 6, 2: 6, 2: 6.
Clément played the second longest match in Grand Slam history at the French Open in 2004 against his compatriot Fabrice Santoro . The match, which Santoro won with 6: 4, 6: 3, 6 (5) : 7, 3: 6 and 16:14, lasted two days (May 24/25) and lasted 6 hours and 33 minutes. This mark was exceeded at the 2010 Wimbledon tournament when the first-round game between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut lasted a total of 11 hours and five minutes.
Clément played his last tournament in 2012 at Wimbledon . After leaving there, he declared his professional career over. He became the new captain of the French Davis Cup team .
