Ascione, who played future tournaments from 1998, won his first future title three years later in Valescure (France). In 2003 he won his first Challenger tournament in Andrezieux with a final victory over the Slovak Karol Beck . At the Masters tournament in Paris he was eliminated in the second round against Roger Federer , but made it into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time with 88th place. Further future and challenger titles followed in the next few years.
In his career, Ascione could not win an ATP tournament, but he was victorious in eight Challenger and three Future tournaments. He won his titles mostly on hard court, only three of his Challenger titles he won on clay courts.
In September 2010, Ascione announced his retirement from professional tennis.
