Giorgio Galimberti (born September 5, 1976 in Milan ) is a former Italian tennis player .

Career

Giorgio Galimberti celebrated mainly successes in doubles in his career, but was also active in singles. His best placement in the individual world rankings was 115th on May 5, 2003. He played a total of five times in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament and reached the second round three times. He won two singles titles on the ITF Future Tour and three titles on the ATP Challenger Tour . In doubles, however, he won 25 titles on the Challenger Tour and four other future titles. His best performance in the double competitions of the Grand Slams was reaching the round of 16 at the French Open 2005 .

On the ATP World Tour , he won the tournament in Milan in February 2005 alongside Daniele Bracciali . With Bracciali he had failed in the final of the same tournament the year before. In 1998 he had already reached his first World Tour final with Massimo Valeri in Bologna . His best ranking position was 65th on June 6, 2005.

On February 18, 2008, Galimberti was banned for 100 days for illegal sports betting and was fined $ 35,000. At this point, Galimberti had not played a tournament for five months. After the ban he only played twice in tournaments, both futures.

For the Italian Davis Cup team , he completed a total of eleven matches between 2001 and 2006. He won two of his four singles games and seven of his eleven games in doubles.
