The Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 26th to November 1st, 2009 in Lyon . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Bank Austria TennisTrophy was played in Vienna and the St. Petersburg Open was played in Saint Petersburg , which, like the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

The defending champion in the singles was Robin Söderling , who did not take part in the tournament this year. In the final, Ivan Ljubičić won against local hero Michaël Llodra in straight sets 7: 5 and 6: 3. For Ljubičić it was the first title of the current year as well as his ninth title overall on the ATP Tour. In doubles, Michaël Llodra and Andy Ram were the defending champions, but this year they no longer took part in the tournament together. In the purely French final, Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut won against Arnaud Clément and Sébastien Grosjean in straight sets 6: 4 and 7: 6 6 . For Mahut it was the first double title in Lyon, while for Benneteau, after his victory in 2006 together with Arnaud Clément, it was already the second title.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 650,000 euros; the total financial liabilities were 575,250 euros.
