The Abierto Mexicano Telcel 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from February 23 to 28, 2009 in Acapulco . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on a clay court. In the same week the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships were played in Delray Beach and the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships in Dubai . The latter, like the Abierto Mexicano Telcel, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category , while the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the individual was Nicolás Almagro , who was able to defend this successfully. In the individual final, the Spaniard prevailed in two sets 6: 4, 6: 4 against the Frenchman Gaël Monfils . With that he won his fifth individual title of his career. In doubles, Oliver Marach and Michal Mertiňák were the defending champions, but this year they both competed with a new partner. In the final, the two faced each other, it won Michal Mertiňák with his partner František Čermák against Oliver Marach and his partner Łukasz Kubot in three sets with 4: 6, 6: 4, [10: 7].

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was $ 1,100,000; total financial liabilities were US $ 1,226,500.
