Kevin Kim (born July 26, 1978 in Torrance , California ) is a retired American tennis player of Korean descent.

Career

After graduating from the Palmer Preparatory Academy in Tampa , Florida , he was accepted as a tennis player at the University of California in Los Angeles, but later left it again. He won eleven titles on the Challenger Tour , nine of them in singles and two more in doubles. At the level of the ATP Tour , he reached the final in Houston in 2001 , but was clearly defeated by the Indians Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes at the side of Jim Thomas in two sets. He achieved his best Grand Slam result in 2005 at the French Open , when he made it to the round of 16.

Kim has not been in the world rankings since September 2013 and had only played three Challenger tournaments in June, August and September in 2014, but where he failed in the first qualifying round. In 2015, thanks to wildcards, he took part in three doubles competitions and one singles competition on the Challenger Tour, he won none of the matches.
