The Gerry Weber Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from June 6th to 14th, 2009 in Halle . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on grass. In the same week, the AEGON Championships were played at the Queen’s Club in London , which, like the Gerry Weber Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion was Roger Federer , who withdrew from the tournament after winning his first title at the French Open shortly before . In the final, the German Tommy Haas , who started the tournament with a wildcard , won against the second seeding list Novak Đoković 6: 3, 6: 7, 4 , 6: 1. He won his twelfth title on the ATP tour. In doubles, Michail Juschny and Mischa Zverev no longer competed together to defend their title. In the final, Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated the pairing Andreas Beck and Marco Chiudinelli in two sets with 6: 3 and 6: 4.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 663,750 euros, the total financial liabilities were 750,000 euros.

The qualification took place from June 4th to 6th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
