Dudi Sela ( Hebrew
דודי סלע ; * April 4, 1985 in Kirjat Shmona ) is an Israeli tennis player .
Career
In his youth, Sela won the French Open junior tournament in doubles with György Balázs in 2003 , and in singles he reached the semi-finals in the same year at the US Open junior tournament, where he lost to Marcos Baghdatis . He won his first title on the Junior Tour in April 2000 in Haifa in doubles with his compatriot Idan Ben Harosch. In 2001 he also won doubles in Corfu and also reached the final in singles. In April 2001 he won his first individual title in Castricum. His best placement in the junior world rankings was 9th in singles and 16th in doubles, which he achieved in 2002 and 2003, respectively.
In 2002 he turned professional, three years later he won the tournaments in Vancouver and Lexington on the ATP Challenger Tour . In 2006, he won more men's singles titles than anyone with five tournament wins at the USTA Pro Circuit , a series of futures tournaments in the United States. In July 2007, he lost the Challengers final in Cordoba . Sela achieved his best Grand Slam result so far in Wimbledon in 2009 , where, after victories over Stefan Koubek , Rainer Schüttler and 15 seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo, he reached the round of 16, where he lost to Novak akoković .
In 2005 he played for Israel in the Davis Cup for the first time .
